Bupa is running a pilot with Equip in Wimbledon and Merton to help empower more people to stay active, engage in sports and adopt healthier habits.
Equip offers free access to sports equipment through a network of digital, self-service lockers. Using their app, you can unlock gear, play whenever and wherever you like, and return it when you're done.
By making sports equipment easy and convenient to access, together with Equip we want to help build more inclusive, active, and healthier communities in cities around the world.
Healthy Cities
At Bupa, our purpose is to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives and make a better world. One way we do this is through our global Healthy Cities programme which encourages people to do things that keep them and the planet healthy, like being active.
Research shows that spending at least 120 minutes per week in nature is associated with a significantly higher likelihood of reporting good health and high wellbeing – but to truly benefit, we need to protect and restore green spaces. That’s why Bupa also regenerates urban environments as part of the Healthy Cities programme.
This September (1st-30th), in support of our pilot with Equip, we’re inviting everyone to join our Healthy Cities challenge.
Using this link to access or download the Healthy Cities app, you can either walk 6,000 steps per day or use the app to convert other activities, including your time using Equip gear, into steps.
In return, we'll donate a tree for every person who clocks up 25 streaks during September (1 streak means walking 6,000 steps per day or doing the equivalent through other activities).
The equipment can be unlocked at any of the three locations below:
- Sir Joseph Hood Memorial Playing Fields B
- Colliers Wood Recreation Ground B
- Wimbledon Park
