Meet the members of
 our leadership team

Our Group CEO, Iñaki Ereño, is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the business.

He leads the Chief Executive Committee (CEC) in driving the performance of the business and setting the overall strategic agenda.

Iñaki Ereño

Group CEO

Iñaki became Bupa Group CEO on 1 January 2021.

Iñaki joined Bupa in 2005 and has held a number of leadership roles. He became CEO of Sanitas, the Bupa Group’s insurance and provision businesses in Spain in 2008, and in 2012 became CEO of the Spain and Latin America (SLA) market unit and joined the Bupa Executive Team. In 2016, SLA was expanded to Europe and Latin America (ELA). ELA consists of Bupa’s businesses in Spain, Chile, Poland, Brazil, Türkiye, Mexico and Latin America.

Before joining Bupa in 2005, Iñaki held senior positions at the Telefonica Group and Carrefour as well as founding an online start-up. Iñaki has a degree in Law and holds an MBA from IESE Business School.

James Lenton

Group Chief Financial Officer

James Lenton joined Bupa in September 2021 as Group Chief Financial Officer-Designate, and formally became Group CFO and a Board Director in November 2021. Before joining Bupa, James was CFO of Hammerson plc, a FTSE 250 owner and manager of properties with a European portfolio. Prior to that, James was both CFO, and a board member of AIG’s European Group, a position he held for four years. Earlier in his career he was a Partner at EY providing a range of assurance and advisory services including M&A, financing and external audit, to clients including FTSE 100 companies and financial services groups.

Nick Stone

CEO, Asia Pacific

Nick Stone began as Acting Chief Executive Officer Bupa Asia Pacific in April 2023.

Mr Nicholas Stone, Bupa APAC Chief Financial Officer, joined the Bupa ANZ Group Board in April 2019, having previously served as Bupa ANZ's Group Financial Controller.

Prior to joining Bupa, Mr Stone was CFO at Marlin Brands and the General Manager Commercial Finance at Medibank Private Limited. This role incorporated the management of Medibank's privatisation process whereby the Australian Federal Government sold 100% of its interest in Medibank onto the public markets (via an IPO) in 2014.

Mr Stone spent 10 years at Energy Australia in various roles including CFO, COO – Retail and Financial Controller and spent several years overseas in England and Kazakhstan, predominantly focusing on the oil and gas sector.

Mr Stone's qualifications include a Bachelor of Business – Majoring in Accounting and Law. He is also an Associate of Chartered Accountants – Australia and New Zealand.

Iñaki Peralta

CEO, Europe and Latin America

As CEO of Europe and Latin America (ELA), Iñaki is accountable for Bupa’s businesses in Spain, Chile, Poland, Brazil, Türkiye, Mexico and Latin America.

Iñaki was the General Manager of Sanitas Seguros, Bupa’s health insurance business in Spain, from 2013 to 2020. He also led Bupa’s health insurance business in Mexico. In his 20 years with Sanitas he has held a variety of roles including leading Sanitas Hospitales, and Operations Director of Sanitas Mayores, Bupa’s aged care business in Spain.

Iñaki holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Enterprise Administration from the Universidad de Navarra, a master’s degree in Management of Health Centres from ESADE, an MBA from IEDE and completed the AMP (Advanced Management Program) at Wharton.

Carlos Jaureguizar

CEO, Bupa Global, India and UK

Carlos became CEO for our Bupa Global and UK Market Unit on 1 April 2021. In this role, he is accountable for Bupa’s businesses in the UK, including insurance, dental, aged care and health clinics, as well as Bupa Global, which provides international private medical insurance to customers around the world. From July 2021, his accountabilities also include overseeing Bupa’s associate business in India, Niva Bupa.

Carlos joined Bupa’s Sanitas business in Spain as Strategy Director in 2006 and in 2014, became Chief Financial Officer for Bupa’s Europe and Latin America Market Unit. He was appointed General Manager for Bupa Chile in 2018.

Ine Snater

Group Chief New Technologies Officer

Appointed: 2024

Ine Snater is Group Chief New Technologies Officer, as well as Chief Transformation & Strategy Officer for Bupa Europe & Latin America. She joined Bupa more than 20 years ago, and in that time has held many management positions across our Spanish Health Insurance business. She has been instrumental to the digitalisation of our Spanish health insurance business through the development of Blua, our digital health offering, which is now available in 10 markets across Bupa globally.

She is also on the Board of the Cruz Blanca Isapre in Chile and Bupa CarePlus in Brazil.

David Fletcher

Chief Risk Officer

David commenced in the new role of Chief Risk Officer in January 2017. He has been with Bupa since 2014 in senior roles including Chief Internal Auditor and MD of IDM. He has had extensive international financial services experience, having held various senior positions in Nigeria, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and in London with Standard Chartered and Citibank.

Dr Anne Lepetit

Chief Medical Officer, BGIUK & Group

Dr Anne Lepetit was appointed Bupa’s Chief Medical Officer in 2023.

Anne has more than 25 years' experience in crisis management, emergency medical assistance, and health insurance. She worked as an emergency department doctor for more than a decade and spent six years as an evacuation doctor.

Anne’s previous positions include Chief Medical Officer at Cigna Healthcare, Allianz, Henner and Europe Assistance.

Penny Dudley

Chief Legal Officer

Penny was appointed as Chief Legal Officer in April 2016, having joined Bupa in 2010. Penny has extensive international legal experience in regulated financial services, originally qualifying as a solicitor in Australia, and subsequently relocating to the UK where she has held in-house legal roles at Invesco, and Macquarie.

Nigel Sullivan

Chief Sustainability and People Officer

Nigel joined Bupa as Chief People Officer in June 2017 and took responsibility for Sustainability in May 2021. Prior to joining Bupa he was Human Resources Director for TalkTalk and HR Director for Sales and Marketing worldwide for Rover Group. He has also worked in Human Resources at Nortel Networks, Marconi and the logistics group Wincanton plc.

Zoe Vafadari

Chief Brand and External Communications Officer

Zoe was appointed to Bupa's Chief Executive Committee in February 2022 as Chief Brand and External Communications Officer. In this role, she is responsible for establishing the global brand narrative for Bupa that supports our purpose, generating understanding, interest and engagement with customers and other key global stakeholders including colleagues, the media and policymakers.

Zoe joined Bupa in July 2021 as Group Director of Internal Communications. Prior to joining Bupa, she worked in the retail and telecommunications sectors, in roles spanning brand management, internal communications, customer communications and customer experience.

Jeremy Eagles

Chief Audit Officer

Jeremy was appointed Chief Audit Officer of Bupa in August 2019, with responsibility for leading the Group’s global internal audit function.

He originally qualified as a chartered accountant with PwC, and has subsequently held senior internal audit roles with a number of leading multi-national insurance companies and brokers, including Catlin Group, Aviva, XL Capital and JLT.

Colin Campbell

Group Company Secretary

Colin was appointed Group Company Secretary of Bupa in July 2019.

He was formerly Group Company Secretary at Old Mutual plc, the international financial services group, where he held senior corporate governance and legal roles for over eight years. Prior to that, he worked in the Group General Counsel's Office of Barclays plc and was a corporate lawyer at Herbert Smith Freehills.
