Directorate Changes

We are today announcing the following changes to the Bupa Board:

  • Pia Heidenmark Cook to join the Board as a Non-Executive Director from 1 April 2022
  • Clare Thompson, Non-Executive Director, will retire from the Board, and as Senior Independent Director and Chair of the Audit Committee, on 30 April 2022
  • Paul Evans, Non-Executive Director, to be appointed as Senior Independent Director and Chair of the Audit Committee, subject to regulatory approval, from 1 May 2022

Pia brings operational and transformation experience to the Board together with substantial sustainability expertise from her previous executive roles, including as Chief Sustainability Officer at IKEA, and other non-executive roles including The Boards Impact Forum, Origin Materials and Sustainable Hospitality Alliance. Pia will also join the Board Sustainability Committee.

Clare has served on the Board for nearly seven years, and has recently overseen the smooth transition of our external auditor and change of Group CFO. Paul has been a member of the Audit Committee since he joined the Board in 2018 and has extensive financial experience from his recent executive and non-executive roles.

Roger Davis, Chairman said: “I’m very pleased to welcome Pia to the Board. Her appointment brings skills that will help us achieve our sustainability goals, which are a key part of our strategy.

“Clare’s contribution to the Board and Committees over the last seven years, and support to me in her role as Senior Independent Director, has been significant and greatly appreciated. I wish her well for the future.

“I look forward to working with Paul more closely as our new Senior Independent Director.”
