We are today announcing that Carlos Jaureguizar will become CEO of Bupa Global and UK (BGUK) from 1 April 2021, subject to regulatory approval.
Carlos is currently General Manager of the Bupa Chile business. He succeeds David Hynam who is leaving to pursue new leadership opportunities after seven years with the organisation.
Group CEO, Iñaki Ereño, said: “Huge thanks to David for all he has contributed to Bupa in over seven years with the company, including five years as CEO of the Bupa Global & UK Market Unit. I would particularly like to recognise his leadership of BGUK’s response to the pandemic and his personal and constant commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. Under David’s leadership we have expanded our market leading insurance offer, especially in mental health and virtual GP, successfully integrated our extensive network of dental clinics and reshaped our businesses in aged care and retirement living. I’m delighted that while David will be moving onto new opportunities, he will continue to be involved with Bupa as a Board Director of GeoBlue, our joint venture in the US with some Blue Cross Blue Shield companies.
“I am pleased to appoint Carlos as CEO of BGUK. His experience in Spain and Chile will be invaluable and I know he will bring his passion for growth and digital transformation at this important time for the healthcare sector and for Bupa.”
