Bupa UK Foundation Announces New Chair

Alex Cole, Chief Customer and Corporate Affairs Officer for Bupa, is to become Chair of the Bupa UK Foundation. Former Chair, Dr Paula Franklin, Bupa’s Chief Medical Officer, will remain on the Board of Trustees.

The driving force of the Bupa UK Foundation is to help people to live longer, healthier, happier lives, funding practical projects to tackle specific challenges in health and social care. Since 2015 the Foundation has awarded more than £3 million in grants to around 110 projects to improve mental health, support carers and empower young adults living with ongoing health challenges to live life to the full.

David Hynam, CEO, Bupa Global and UK, says: “I am absolutely delighted that Alex has agreed to be our Chair and take our Foundation to the next level. She brings with her energy and enthusiasm and already leads Bupa’s Group CSR agenda.

“Paula has been an outstanding Chair, and I am hugely grateful to her for everything she has achieved for the Foundation including setting it up in 2015 and leading our funding programmes to support mid-life mental health, the health of carers, and young adults living with health challenges. I have very much valued her contribution and am delighted that she remains a Trustee.”

The Foundation’s funding programmes are developed around clearly defined themes, with funding currently directed towards projects and initiatives that improve mental health, support carers and improve the lives of young people facing health challenges.
