Bupa UK care homes open their doors to help tackle festive loneliness

Bupa care homes across the UK will be opening their doors on Christmas Day to ensure no elderly person has to spend Christmas alone.
Community Christmas

For the third year running Bupa has partnered with Community Christmas – a charity that believes no elderly person in the UK should be alone on Christmas Day unless they want to be.

Elderly people are being invited to join residents at dozens of Bupa care homes up and down the country for a traditional Christmas Lunch, followed by festive fun and games.

Joan Elliott, Managing Director, Bupa UK Care Services, said: “We know that loneliness and social isolation is a growing issue for elderly people all year round – for some this is even more so at Christmas time. I am really pleased that we’re supporting Community Christmas again this year, by opening our doors on Christmas Day to offer our elderly community somewhere they can enjoy a traditional Christmas dinner and some festive fun in the company of others. Our homes are very much looking forward to welcoming some new faces to the table on Christmas Day!”
