Organised by leading diversity specialists INvolve, the Empower Ethnic Minority Role Model Lists are a powerful reflection and celebration of the incredible achievements of people of colour and advocates in the global business community.

David was nominated for championing diversity at all levels and ensuring that people of all backgrounds are offered the same growth and development opportunities within a positive, open and inclusive environment.

In May 2019 the CEO was also named a top leader at tackling gender inequality, in the Agents of Change power list compiled by the Women's Business Council and Management Today. He was commended for supporting programmes that prepare emerging talent for leadership roles.

David is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion at Bupa, which is ranked as number five in LinkedIn’s ‘top places to work in the UK’. In 2018 he launched the ‘Everyone’s Welcome’ pledge and ‘Be You at Bupa’ initiative - commitments that celebrate positive working environments that welcome everybody, enabling them to bring their best selves to work.

David Hynam, CEO of Bupa Global and UK, said: "I’m very humbled to have been included on both the EMpower and Agents of Change lists over the past week; recognising leaders who are advocates for ethnic minorities and women respectively.

"It’s great to be named alongside others who are working hard to promote positive working environments for their people. We employ 25,000 people across the UK who are as unique and special as the customers, residents and patients that we serve. Everything we do relies on our people, so being a place where people love to work is critical to our success.

"I believe it’s vital that we empower advocates for inclusion at all levels, supporting them across Bupa to excel in their careers. I’m very proud that our ‘Everyone’s Welcome’ and ‘Be You at Bupa’ commitments are helping to achieve this – inclusion runs through everything we do."

Suki Sandhu OBE, INvolve Founder & CEO, said: “Each year, we create our Role Model Lists to celebrate incredible individuals and businesses who are working to drive ethnic diversity and empowerment in workplaces across the globe.

"Role modelling is fundamental to create more diverse and inclusive organisations, and everyone who has featured on this year’s Lists is using their success to inspire the next generation of ethnic minority employees and future leaders. By working collectively with our annual Role Model Lists we hope to create a level playing field for minorities across the globe.”
