Celebrating Black History Month 2020

Black History Month is held annually in October in the UK. It first took place over 30 years ago when it was conceived as a national celebration of the contributions that people of African and Caribbean backgrounds have made to the country.

Over time the event has grown to recognise the history of black people more broadly.

Bupa is marking this year’s commemorations with colleague led events and activities aimed at raising awareness of black history and what it means to be black in Britain today.

In this video Bupa Group’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr Paula Franklin, shares what Black History Month means to her and reflects on the importance of role models and those who have inspired her journey.
