A Battersea couple recreated their wedding ceremony, complete with stag and hen dos, as part of their 57th wedding anniversary earlier this month.
No expense was spared for deserving couple, John Head, 84, and Shirley Head, 83, who celebrated the day with a vow renewal ceremony, dinner and entertainment with loved ones, friends and staff at Shirley’s home, Bupa Arbrook House in Esher.
Reverent Sarb administered the vows and arranged for the room to be decorated to the couple’s taste with help from volunteers. The Head’s were dressed to the nines with a hairdresser on hand to perfect Shirley’s look for the day.
Of course, no wedding is complete without a hen and stag party beforehand. John celebrated with a night at the pub with friends, whilst Shirley enjoyed an afternoon tea style gathering with wine, friends and staff at the home.
The happy couple also enjoyed an evening to themselves in a ‘Honeymoon Suite’ that colleagues at the home had arranged, allowing them to spend their first night together in five years.
When asked what their advice is for a happy marriage, the Head’s said: “Always work together and plan together. Be open to ideas and keep each other happy”.
Home Manager Jonathan May said: “Shirley and John are a fantastic couple and it’s so heart-warming to see how much they enjoyed the day.
“We strongly believe it’s never too late to live your dreams, so we like to go the extra mile in making days like this happen. We would like to say a huge thank to Rev. Sarb for making the day extra special.
“Their advice for a lasting and happy relationship is so simple – perhaps we could all learn something from this!”
