Bupa Global Latin America (BGLA) is playing its part in helping communities across Latin America through its corporate responsibility programme, Bupa Contigo, which means ‘there for you’.
Due to social distancing measures and resources being stretched, many public hospitals across the region have struggled to provide meals for staff on the frontline during the pandemic. In response, BGLA is partnering with public hospitals in Ecuador, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Bolivia and Guatemala and hiring the services of local restaurants to donate thousands of meals to hospital staff.
Many restaurants are of course themselves facing difficulties therefore the Bupa Contigo programme is not only helping health care workers but local food businesses too.
Diego Fernandez, Managing Director of Bupa Global Latin America, says, “I feel incredibly proud to see Bupa Contigo, our corporate responsibility & sustainability programme, implemented across the region with donations of thousands of meals to hospital staff. This program reinforces our commitment to playing a responsible role in our communities.”
BGLA continue to make other contributions to their communities including through their partnership with the United Nations Foundation and the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
