Bupa Hong Kong is excited to participate in a four-week community wellness project in the Taikoo Place area, located in the east of Hong Kong Island.
We all know that regular exercise lowers the risk of heart disease and diabetes, helps weight loss when accompanied with a balanced diet, and reduces stress levels. But sometimes it’s hard to find the time to do it. And, with the majority of Hong Kong’s corporate population sitting on the 20-something floor of a high-rise building, thanks to the elevator, it’s all too easy to skip the stairs.
Bupa Hong Kong is excited to participate in a four-week community wellness project in the Taikoo Place area, located in the east of Hong Kong Island. This initiative follows Sanitas' Healthy Cities’ programme, where we operate under the Sanitas brand, which was launched in 2014 in Spain and promotes healthier lifestyles in the workplace and advocates sustainable cities and cleaner environments. Now in its fourth year, corporate customers, employees and wider communities continue to participate in the programme in Madrid. Through its success, the concept was extended to Santiago, Chile in 2016, Antofagasta, Chile in 2018… and in 2019, to Hong Kong.
In partnership with Swire Properties, part of the Swire Group, the overall initiative is called ‘Discover Taikoo Place’ and targets the office community in the area. It will feature a series of free wellness classes and events for companies and their employees. Like the Sanitas Healthy Cities’ programme, the aim is to make it easier for employees to be physically active by offering multiple challenges, classes and workshops, right on their working doorstep. The programme also offers a social element, designed to build a sense of community between the organisations in Taikoo Place.
Over the coming weeks, Bupa Hong Kong will support delivery several wellness events, including Bupa – WALK FOR MILES, an individual steps challenge, and a Corporate Wellness “spinathon” challenge. Using the MoveSpring app, participants will record the number of steps taken over the course of three weeks. Prizes in the form of Asia Miles, a popular local rewards scheme, will be earnt for those who hit a daily steps target that increases through each week, as well as some big prizes for the top three participants.
At Bupa, we’re committed to providing the highest standard of care for our customers and making a positive impact in the communities we live and work. This commitment is an important pillar in our Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability agenda, where wellness initiatives are vital in creating a world where people feel well and stay healthy.
I’m really looking forward to welcoming healthy cities to Hong Kong this week and encouraging our customers, people, partners, suppliers and wider society live longer, healthier, happier lives.
