At Bupa Australia, supporting families to raise emotionally well, resilient and happy kids is a key focus for our business.

Our sponsorship events and suite of tools, games, and content are all designed to help families to connect, make the most of everyday moments and face challenges together when they arise.

When we asked our customers about the issues they face with their kids, anxiety, bullying and social media were identified as key topics parents need support with. In response, we teamed up with Kids Helpline to produce ‘Mumbles’, a five-part podcast series and a Bupa Australia first.

Each episode features a real story from a mum and explores the experience she has had with her child, how they coped and what they learnt. Hosts Rebel and Chantelle are also joined by Leo, a counselling supervisor from Kid’s Helpline, who lends his expertise and sage wisdom to each subject.

We know from our work with Kids Helpline and speaking with our customers, that families want to be connected to resources that provide practical tips and trusted information on supporting mental health and wellbeing.

The round-table discussions feature a down-to-earth approach and a warm, supportive atmosphere resonating from the fantastic chemistry between long-time friends Rebel and Chantelle. For the hosts it’s about sharing the parenting experience warts and all, finding positivity where you can and celebrating the triumphs - big or small.

Chantelle Ellem, one of our hosts and blogger at Fat Mum Slim, told us “Creating the Mumbles podcast with Bupa and Kids Helpline was a dream come true. Being a mum, I felt a real need to be able to talk about topics that don’t seem to be discussed as openly as I wanted them to, so it was an incredible experience for Bupa to create a platform for that to happen.”

Care is at the heart of everything we do at Bupa Australia and parents are telling us that these podcasts are giving them reassurance, as well as practical strategies to help them connect with - and care for - their kids.

New episodes are added weekly and can be downloaded via iTunes, Spotify and Stitcher.
