19 July 2019 . United Kingdom

Bupa Dental Care in Northern Ireland held its very own ‘Bupa’s Got Talent’ event, with a Belmont-based Dental Nurse stealing the show. On the night Bupa raised a total of £7,000 for Make-A-Wish foundation.

Bupa's Got Talent Northern Ireland

Dental professionals from nine Bupa Dental Care practices across Northern Ireland gathered at the Hilton Templepatrick to showcase their talents outside of dentistry.

The night saw the audience judge Bupa colleagues as they took on comedy sketches, singing and juggling, all in aid of raising money for their long-standing charity partner, Make-A-Wish foundation, which grants life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

Eight acts performed on the night, but it was Dental Nurse, Joy McIlwrath-Holmes that wowed the audience with her rendition of ‘Hello’ by Adele and took home the Bupa’s Got Talent crown.

The winner and Dental Nurse from Bupa Dental Care Belmont Road, Joy McIlwrath-Holmes, said: “I’m so glad that I made the decision to take part in Bupa’s Got Talent, and I must say thank you to my Practice Manager, Brendan, for encouraging me to participate.

“When the results were announced I couldn’t believe that I’d won and I’m just so pleased that I’ve been a part of raising a wonderful amount of money for Make-A-Wish foundation. I would like to thank everyone who voted for me, and my husband and colleagues for all their support, although I won’t be giving up my day job! I would also like to thank all the other acts who contributed to the show and to those who were part of organising such a brilliant evening.”

Zara Doyle, Area Manager for Bupa Dental Care Northern Ireland, added: “What a fantastic night. Thank you to all the contestants who took part and provided us with great entertainment and helped us raise a staggering £7,000 for an amazing cause. Make-A-Wish foundation really helps make a difference to the lives of children suffering from life-threatening conditions, and we at Bupa Dental Care Northern Ireland are delighted that we can do our part to help such an incredible charity and help people live happier lives.”
