Dartford care home rated 'Outstanding' in CQC inspection

15 February 2017 . United Kingdom

Bupa's Eglantine Villa Bupa in Horton Kirby is celebrating after receiving an overall ‘Outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), following an unannounced inspection.

Under the CQC’s programme of inspections, all adult social care services are given a rating according to whether they are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led. Outstanding is the highest available rating and is awarded by the CQC to recognise ‘innovative and exceptional care.’

In its summary of Eglantine Villa, the CQC said that “staff communicated effectively with residents and treated them with the utmost kindness and respect.” They said “the manager promoted an open and positive culture which focussed on people, carried out innovative research aiming to improve people’s quality of life at national level and promoted strong links with the community.”

Residents gave very positive feedback about how staff responded to their needs, telling the inspector “the carers know each of us very well, they know what we need and how we want things done, they are marvellous really.” One relative commented: “The residents are consulted about so many things and listened to, it is like they are one team with the staff; marvellous; simply marvellous.”

Home Manager, Sarah-Jane Clapson, said: 'I’m absolutely delighted with the result of the CQC report and the positive feedback that it included. I’m extremely proud of the team and thrilled that the CQC has recognised the home’s standard of care as Outstanding.

“I’m looking forward to working with the team to further develop our services, so that we make sure we are delivering the best care we possibly can to make this a homely, safe and comfortable environment for our residents to live in.”

Eglantine Villa provides convalescent, respite, Parkinson's, palliative and frail elderly nursing care as well as specialist nursing and residential care for elderly people living with dementia.
