Members of Bupa UK were delighted to attend the British Medical Association (BMA) Patient Information Awards this week, where Bupa's online dementia information was commended
The judging panel said of the Bupa UK Dementia Hub: "This is a well-constructed web resource which is easy to navigate and informative. It is suitable for those wanting to find out more about dementia. This is a good resource."
Nick Ridgman, Head of Health Content at Bupa UK, said: “It’s fantastic to see our dementia information commended at the Patient Information Awards. We worked hard to ensure we were meeting the significant information needs of those affected by dementia. The recognition of our success in this by the British Medical Association is something we’re really proud of.”
Joanne Howcroft, Interim Regulatory Manager for Quality and Compliance within Bupa UK’s Care Services, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to be invited to attend the event. It gave me a great insight about how important it is to provide information that is easy to read and easy to understand relating to health conditions. It was also exciting to see patients and service users being involved in the information development. It reinforced for me that the Dementia Hub is a fantastic resource for all our customers which is exactly what it should be, easy read and easy to understand information at your fingertips”
The ceremony was held at BMA House in London, with a keynote address from Professor Dinesh Bhugra CBE, Emeritus Professor of Mental Health and Cultural Diversity at King’s College London.
The BMA says its Patient Information Awards “aim to support and encourage patient-centred care in meeting the needs of patients through the production and design of accessible, well-designed and clinically balanced information which will promote greater awareness and understanding of health matters and patient choice.”
