Bupa understands that keeping your personal information and data safe is important to you – and it is just as important to us. Unfortunately, scammers are out there, trying to impersonate companies like Bupa and hoping to mislead our customers.

It’s our absolute priority to ensure your personal customer information is secure, while also minimising the risk of fraudulent activity occurring.

What we’re doing to protect you from fraud

Bupa has teams dedicated to protecting our customers and their information. We’re on the constant look-out for scams and in regular contact with relevant authorities to keep your information safe.

We will never:

  • Send you an email or text message asking you to reply with your login, password, personal banking details or other sensitive information.
  • Call you without asking for thorough ID verification or use a phone call to pressure you to pay a bill or settle any outstanding debts right away.
  • Hassle you to click on a link via email or text message to give us with your Bupa password or banking details.

How to spot a scam

Look and feel: Communications from scammers often include spelling and grammatical errors, incorrect branding or logos and don’t look like the usual emails or texts we send you.

Clickbait: Scammers are often trying to bait people by applying time pressure to click a link and provide sensitive information quickly. If you feel this pressure, you should contact us directly.

Inaccuracies: A generic or overly casual tone is often used in scam emails and texts. Your name and membership details could be wrong or not feature at all.

What can you do?

When receiving any communication that looks like it comes from Bupa, it’s important to be alert to the possibility it could be a scam. Being aware that scammers are impersonating companies like Bupa every day is a good first step.

Check and check again: Before clicking any links or entering any details, take your time when reading the email or text you receive and -check the information against what is publicly available on our website.

Ask questions: If someone from Bupa calls you directly, you should ask questions to ensure the caller verifies their identity.
