What we're doing around the world
Bupa Arabia developed a smartphone app to encourage colleagues, customers and other walkers to track their progress. They walked in malls to stay cool and keep walking in hot weather.
Heath Dialog colleagues and their families took part in walking events in Boston, New Hampshire, Maine, San Antonio and Scottsdale, and tracked their progress online.
Max Bupa in India got 18,000 people walking at their three big city walks and across the country with an interactive social media campaign.
Bupa Australia walked with thousands of people through Australia's national Bupa Walk to Work Day on 28 September, a day that encourages everyone to build regular walking into their daily routines.
Colleagues, families local school children and members of the community covered over 200 miles on a series of walks during an open day and patients are supported to walk to recovery, where possible.
Colleagues joined local Memory Walks for Alzheimer's Society and Alzheimer Scotland. Through the assisted walking programme for residents, Home Managers will continue to help others to get walking.
Bupa Care Services New Zealand
Residents, colleagues and local communities came together to walk the same distance as the length of New Zealand!
Sanitas colleagues walked the equivalent distance of the Camino de Santiago route, using an eco- pedometer to calculate steps taken, calories burned and CO
Bupa China's Walk to Health programme got over 300 people walking along the Great Wall where they shared tips on how to keep walking past September.
Bupa colleagues, family and friends got involved in activities at Lumphini Park, Bangkok from warm-up exercises to fun team walks.
A smartphone app and photography competition were just two of the activities that got people walking with Bupa Hong Kong.
Bupa Care Services Australia
Bupa Care homes in Australia hosted Memory Walks in their local communities to raise funds for Alzheimer's Australia.
A 'walking buddy' programme supported by a Facebook app, encouraged people to build walking into their daily routines, while raising money for their local charity Project EAARN.
Employees at the UK head office got involved in STEPtember, a month-long programme of fun walking activities and events. They joined with local Bupa Care Home walking events and Memory Walks too.
Bupa Health and Wellbeing UK
Colleagues walked to raise awareness of the benefits of walking and fundraising for Diabetes UK.
In partnership with charity PINNT colleagues took up a walking challenge which saw them cover over 7,000 miles on a virtual route to connect their people, patients and customers. Managers also encouraged walking meetings.
Bupa International in Brighton hosted a walking treasure hunt and healthy BBQ for employees and their families.
