A new £4million flagship health and wellness centre opens today in Station Road, Solihull creating 15 new jobs for the area. Bupa has invested more than £1million in the very latest technology making it the first of a new generation of wellness centres which could be rolled out nationally.
The two-storey development boasts 24 consulting and treatment rooms, its own laboratories and dental and radiology suites. It is staffed by a team of doctors and therapists able to treat more than 5,000 people a year.
Dr Mike McGhee, senior regional physician for Bupa Wellness said: "This new facility is the health and wellness centre of the future. It brings together the latest technology and tests under one roof in modern, contemporary and comfortable surroundings. As well as health assessments to detect problems early, it also offers a wide range of services to keep you healthy and well including exercise and fitness, dentistry and non-surgical treatments."
Bupa Wellness in Solihull is the only centre outside London to offer Fibroscan, the latest technology to check for the early signs of liver damage, even before a blood test. Also available is digital mammography for faster and more accurate images of the breast to enable earlier diagnosis, an ultrasound scan to detect aneurysm and the risk of stroke in people over the age of 55, and an ovarian cancer check for women over 45 years-old. A GP referral is not necessary.
The centre's team of doctors, physiotherapists and osteopaths can help people with back, neck and sports injuries as well as those who need support in getting fit for work. Dentistry and non-surgical cosmetic treatments are also available including use of the latest treatments for lines and wrinkles, skin rejuvenation and laser hair removal.
Bupa's new health assessments and wellness programmes are also available at the centre together with specialist one-to-one health coaching to help people improve their health and fitness options including personal training to help customers increase their physical activity.
People who want to get fit can do so using the latest in exercise technology.
