Bupa team treks on fundraising Emmerdale and Coronation Street pub walk

8 August 2009

A team of 16 staff from Bupa will finish off a gruelling sponsored pub walk at Emmerdale’s Woolpack pub on 26 July, following a 44 mile trek from Coronation Street’s Rovers Return.

The team, led by Dave Dransfield from Bupa Wellness are planning the walk to raise awareness and funds for the charity Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society (SANDS), following the recent loss of a close friend’s unborn baby.

Dave Dransfield said: “I came up with the idea of a sponsored walk while talking with my friend Tony Hammond who is a script producer for the soap Emmerdale. The idea soon spread, and as a result we have had great support from colleagues who have sponsored us generously. We are also grateful to Bupa, which is matching up to £2,000 of the monies raised.”

The walk will begin at the Rovers Return on Saturday 25 July for two days with an overnight stop at The Bridge Hotel in Holmfirth where the group will visit 'Sid's Cafe' of Last of the Summer Wine fame. Finally finishing at Emmerdale’s Woolpack on Sunday 26 July, where the group hope to prop themselves up at the bar for a well earned pint!
