On Saturday 25 July a team of 16 staff from Bupa will kick off a very special 44 mile sponsored pub walk at Coronation Street’s world famous Rovers Return and will finish at Emmerdale’s Woolpack the next day.
The team, led by Dave Dransfield from Bupa Wellness is planning the walk to raise awareness for the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society (SANDS), following the recent loss of a close friend’s unborn baby.
Dave Dransfield said: “I came up with the idea of the sponsored walk while talking with my friend Tony Hammond who is a script producer for the soap Emmerdale. The idea soon spread and as a result we have had great support from colleagues who have sponsored us generously. We are also grateful to Bupa, which is matching up to £2,000 of the monies raised.”
After leaving the Rovers Return, the walk will span over two days, with an overnight stop at The Bridge Hotel in Holmfirth where the group will visit 'Sid's Cafe' of Last of the Summer Wine fame. Finally finishing at Emmerdale’s Woolpack on Sunday 26 July, where the group hopes to prop themselves up at the bar for a well earned pint!
