Residents praise outstanding care at local homes

Back to UK

Bupa's Pendean House Nursing Home in Midhurst and Church Farm Residential Home in Chichester have been given a seal of approval by residents.

Pendean House has received a 95 percent overall satisfaction score from residents who were asked to judge the home on all aspects of their care. Church Farm received 92 percent.

All residents at Bupa care homes are offered the opportunity to fill in a questionnaire each year, which allows them to feedback and comment on staff, the buildings and grounds, their room, being treated as an individual, communal rooms, the food and their activities.

Jackie Travers, Bupa's care home manager at Pendean House said,

Everyone is delighted with these results. We all do our best day in and day out to ensure that our residents are happy and that we respect their individuality.

added Phyl Jeffery, Church Farm home manager,

I want to thank all my hard working staff whose dedication and commitment has been recognised.

Both homes have also been given an 'Excellent' rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for the care and service it gives its residents. The rating is judged on various criteria, including the experiences of people using the service, whether the home meets key national standards and how well the needs of residents are met through individual plans of care.

Across the UK, Bupa's overall customer satisfaction score has risen for six consecutive years since the introduction of its Personal Best programme, an initiative which delivers highly individualised care in all of its 301 homes. Bupa has also been identified as the best commercial care home provider by Laing and Buisson, an independent body offering market intelligence on the care sector, after research showed them as having the highest percentage of Good and Excellent care homes.

Residents' experiences, CQC inspections and industry analysis are just three of the things to take into consideration when choosing a care home. Bupa Care Homes has produced a checklist to help relatives choose the perfect place for their loved ones. To receive a copy of the checklist, call 0845 600 4622.
