Bupa, the leading health and care company, has introduced a new operating system which will improve business efficiency, speed of service and offer more choice for its customers in the UK. Called SWIFT, the system can process invoices for treatment and payments in real time, store all data and information in one place and enable flexible cover options to meet different customers' needs.
SWIFT replaces 32 legacy systems with one, has taken four years to build and underwent rigorous testing before 12.7 million customer records were migrated to the new system. Now, customer information only needs to be entered on to the system once, removing duplication and the potential for error. It also enables Bupa to introduce products to the market at a faster rate with new schemes for business customers being launched shortly.
Dr Natalie-Jane Macdonald, managing director of Bupa Health and Wellbeing, said:We are delighted at how smoothly the new system has been implemented. We have worked hard with our business partners, including intermediaries and providers, and of course our customers to affect a smooth transition to the new system and this has been successful. We can now offer customers real flexibility, more choice and tailored cover at the press of a button. From a rolling excess, to variable cancer cover or supporting bespoke referral routes from Occupational Health - all of this becomes possible now. Importantly too for our customers, who are increasingly seeking demonstrable value for money, SWIFT will enable us to take significant cost out of our business and enhance the accuracy of claims payment.
Bupa has developed a microsite including a blog and discussion forum and will be hosting events over the coming months to capture intermediary and broker feedback and will continue to support them through the transition period.
