Bupa's Bayford House Nursing Centre, in Stockcross, will be celebrating Christmas in style this year as several months of refurbishments come to an end, just in time for the festive season.
The home will be officially reopened with a ribbon cutting ceremony by the home's only married couple, John and Madelon Jewell, who have recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.
Residents, employees and guests will be treated to mulled wine, mince pies and Christmas carols sung by pupils from Stockcross Primary School.
There will also be Christmas fundraising in aid of the Pet Therapy Scheme, which regularly visits the home with Star the dog. During these visits residents are given the opportunity to pet and interact with Star proving them with the chance to chat about any pets that they may have had in the past. The home wishes to raise enough funds to keep Star and her trainer visiting the home for the coming year.
The renovations, which started in June, have revamped a large number of the homes facilities, including a complete makeover of communal areas, new carpets throughout, new furniture and curtains. All of the resident's bedrooms have also been fully transformed with the addition of flat screen televisions in each of the rooms. There will be tours of the home on the day, for those wishing to take a closer look at the home and what it has to offer.
Care home manager, Sarah Tilley, is thrilled with the changes and said:With the home looking as fantastic as it does and Christmas round the corner, I know that the residents and employees are looking forward to showing it off to the local community and enjoying the festive celebrations.
The refurbishment is part of Bupa Care Services' £40 million pound investment this year in it's UK care homes, to help improve the standard of care for older people throughout the UK.
