Pam Phillips from Bupa's Beacher Hall Nursing Centre in Reading has been announced as a finalist in the Unsung Heroes and Heroines Awards.
Pam, who has worked as a receptionist at Beacher Hall since 2003, was nominated by her colleagues for her contribution to the centre. Her warm and friendly attitude, combined with her willingness to go that extra mile for the residents and carers, whether it be arranging birthday celebrations for residents or providing transport for staff, has proved Pam to be a vital support to the other staff.
The Unsung Heroes and Heroines Awards were set up in 2007 by the Institute of Healthcare and Management, to recognise the roles played by thousands of healthcare workers who ensure that patients and communities get the very best in healthcare services.
Nominees for the awards do not need to hold a medical role. They include anyone who has made a difference to patients' lives: whether it be cheerfully serving tea and biscuits or ensuring everything runs as efficiently as possible behind the scenes.
Pam, a mother of three, said:It was such a lovely surprise to be listed as a finalist for the Unsung Heroes and Heroines Awards. I enjoy everything about my job at Bupa's Beacher Hall nursing home and feel very proud that I am seen as such a vital part of the team.
