Bupa has maintained its leading position amongst large corporate providers of residential care with 87 per cent of its care homes in England rated good or excellent by the Care Quality Commission, according to new figures released by Laing and Buisson.
226 Bupa care homes in England were rated good (2 stars) or excellent (3 stars) at the end of March 2010, but in the last three months, an additional four care homes have been graded good or excellent, taking the total percentage to 88 per cent.
Oliver Thomas, Director of Bupa's UK care homes said:Driving continuous improvement is at the heart of Bupa's care homes - whether that's investing in our staff, our buildings and our management. I want to pay tribute to our hard working and dedicated people who help to keep Bupa as a leader in delivering quality care.
The Care Quality Commission rates all care homes in England on a scale of 0-3 (poor, adequate, good or excellent) based on their ability to meet a number of quality standards.
