Bupa International staff fundraising for British Red Cross Haiti disaster relief

Back to UK

Staff at Bupa International, headquartered in Russell Mews, Brighton, have raised over £1,000 for the British Red Cross Haiti earthquake appeal. Staff at the world's largest expatriate health insurer organised a 'dress down' day to raise £565 for the appeal, which will by matched by the company to make £1,130 in total. Staff came into work wearing casual clothing instead of business dress and each donated some money to the appeal for the privilege.

Managing director at Bupa International, Alistair How, said:

When we heard about the disaster in Haiti, everyone at Bupa International wanted to do something to help. Bupa International will match all the funds raised, and along with our £20,000 donation to Médecins Sans Frontières's Haiti appeal, we hope the people of Haiti receive the aid they so desperately need.

Hannah Rosalie, senior fundraiser at British Red Cross, Sussex branch, commented:

We would like to thank everyone at Bupa International in Brighton for getting involved in the dress down day in aid of the British Red Cross Haiti earthquake appeal. As relief efforts intensify, the Red Cross is reaching tens of thousands of people whose lives have been devastated by the earthquake. The funds raised by Bupa International staff will enable us to bring urgent humanitarian assistance to those in desperate need.
