Residents, staff, friends and family of Bupa's The Highgate Nursing Home, in North London celebrated its £554,000 refurbishment with a much welcomed summer party.
The home was officially reopened with a ribbon cutting by regional director of Bupa Care Services' Oliver Thomas and resident Mrs Elizabeth Skillman. Party-goers were treated to Pimms, canapés and chocolate coated strawberries, as well as tours around the home and its beautiful grounds, which have also received a makeover.
The refurbishment is part of Bupa Care Service's £40 million pound investment this year in its UK care homes, to help improve the standard of care for older people throughout the UK.
Care home manager, Carol Quinn is thrilled with the changes and said:The home looks fantastic! All of the residents and carers were so excited to show our wonderful home to the visitors, most of whom couldn't believe the transformation, it really has the wow factor!
The investment means that a large number of facilities have been revamped, including ensuring that every bedroom has been kitted out with new furniture, curtains, fittings, and flat screen TVs. Residents can also join the growing wave of "silver surfers" as by online with internet access in their rooms.
