Oliver Thomas has been appointed as the director of Bupa's UK care homes.
He will take over responsibility for all 304 nursing and residential homes across England, Scotland and Wales. Previously Oliver has been the regional director in charge of 93 care homes in London, the South East and Anglia.
Oliver has been a member of the Bupa Care Homes senior management team since 1997 and for the past seven years has been regional director for the South East region.
Before joining Bupa, Oliver was executive director of Mount Vernon and Watford Hospitals NHS Trust. Prior to that he held a number of senior operational positions with the NHS.
Announcing the appointment, Bupa Care Services managing director, Mark Ellerby said:Oliver has a wealth of public and private healthcare experience and has successfully led the south east region through a background of challenging times for the care sector. His new role will allow him to continue making a key contribution to the continued growth and development of our UK care homes while also helping to strengthen collaboration with his colleagues in Australia, New Zealand, and Spain.
Oliver replaces Alistair How who has moved to become managing director of Bupa International.
