Bupa International, the world's largest expatriate health insurer, is extending its partnership for another year with the international charity, Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), which provides healthcare to people in war-torn countries, such as Sierra Leone, and those facing endemic diseases, like malaria and HIV/AIDS.
The partnership, which launched in June 2008, has seen Bupa International donate over £70,000 to MSF, with the insurer involving its distributors and employees from Brighton, Miami and Copenhagen in fundraising events.
Tim Slee, global sales director for Bupa International explained the rationale behind continuing with the partnership:At Bupa International, we look after the healthcare of almost 800,000 expatriates in some 200 countries worldwide. MSF, as an international humanitarian medical aid organisation, is a perfect match for us as we want to support a charity which shares our healthcare focus and has an international presence. Our partnership has got off to a cracking start in its first year and we are looking to help MSF physically and financially in the coming 12 months, with plenty of opportunities for our employees to help raise money and support for MSF who continue to support people in countries where good healthcare facilities are not easily available.
James Kliffen, head of fundraising at MSF, commented:We provide healthcare and medical training to people in more than 60 countries, often in war-torn countries or those facing endemic disease. The donations we receive are invaluable in helping some of the most afflicted and marginalised people in the world. We have been so pleased with the support that we have received from Bupa and look forward to continuing the partnership for another year.
