Bupa, the international healthcare provider, today appointed Rita Clifton to its board as a non-executive director, with effect from 1 July 2010.
Rita, who is currently chairman of Interbrand, has worked at board level across a number of industries, many in an international context.
Rita began her career in advertising working at DMB&B and J Walter Thompson before joining Saatchi & Saatchi in 1986, where she became vice-chairman and executive planning director. In 1997 Rita was appointed chief executive of Interbrand in the UK, and chairman in 2002.
Rita is also on the board of DSG international (the former Dixons), and has previously been on the board of the Judge Business School in Cambridge and EMAP plc. She also served on the Sustainable Development Commission for five years. Rita is currently non-executive chairman of Populus, a trustee of WWF-UK (Worldwide Fund for Nature) and a visiting professor of Henley Business School.
