Bupa launches flagship £5 million dementia home in Malvern

Back to Corporate

Bupa is opening its first flagship dementia care home in Malvern, Worcestershire. The Springs Nursing and Residential Home is a purpose built 65-bed nursing home situated over three floors and provides specialist dementia care facilities in a welcoming and homely living environment.
The home has been specifically designed to meet the needs of people diagnosed with dementia and specialist facilities include memory triggers, such as corridors decorated with neutral colours and eye catching pictures, reminiscence activity areas and sensory gardens. Modern communal dining areas and comfortable lounges provide residents with a welcoming environment in which to relax. A fully equipped hair salon has also been installed following residents' feedback so they can look and feel their best.

The Springs is special not only because it provides the very best in on-site dementia facilities, but also because of its carers and nurses, who have each undertaken specialist dementia care training. A special unit will also provide respite dementia care that will enable dementia carers to take a much deserved break.

Located in the heart of Malvern on Spring Lane, the home will be officially opened by Councillor Paul Tuthill, Chairman of Malvern Town Council on 3 December at 2pm. Entertainment will be provided by a musical quartet and soprano, which have been planned for the enjoyment of residents, their families and people in the community. The day will also provide the opportunity to walk around the brand new complex, which is set in an acre of beautiful grounds.

The home will be managed by Alison Ough, who has been appointed as care home manager and has over 25 years' experience of working in the care profession. Alison was the previous home manager at Bupa's Court House Nursing Home, which is also in Malvern.

Alison said:

We look forward to welcoming residents to The Springs, which has been specially designed for people with dementia and will take care of all their individual needs. It is Bupa's priority to continually raise standards of care for older people and The Springs will provide residents with the best level of dementia care in a safe and secure environment.

Residents can expect to enjoy all their home comforts in any of the 65 rooms at The Springs, which feature en-suite bathrooms, flatscreen televisions, telephone points and even under-floor heating. For added security and safety all the rooms have been equipped with a 24-hour nurse call system and smoke detectors.
