Developing new wellness services at our centres

Back to Wellbeing

Sanitas, Bupa’s Spanish business, is developing a new kind of wellbeing centre in response to changes in how people want support in managing their health.

Unlike other centres, these facilities are not focused on Health Assessments or screening but are designed to view health in the same way those who visit the centres do; they take a holistic approach to overall wellbeing and provide personalised services to enhance individuals' quality of life, as well as overall health.

The centres encourage individuals towards a balanced lifestyle that includes exercise, nutrition and personal healthcare. All the support provided at the centres is given by trained medical professionals who can give clear, expert, clinically-based advice.

Evaluating the benefits of the new services

With the Universidad Europea de Madrid, Sanitas is currently developing a Wellbeing Research Project to provide evidence of the benefits that a healthy way of life and the increase of physical activity can have on people's health.

This study will include an assessment of the impact on an employee population with the aim of demonstrating how a healthier company performs more effectively.

The initial research phase is complete and Sanitas is now undertaking a pilot study.

What's next?

With the new Wellbeing Centre currently available in Madrid, Sanitas plans to use any findings from the pilot study to enhance the "prototype" Centre before expanding to other locations across Spain.
