Because of our unique status
We don't have any shareholders (despite being a hugely
successful global enterprise). Instead we reinvest all our profits
in improved services for our customers and in promoting better
health around the globe.
So when you join us, you'll enjoy the best of both worlds. You'll
benefit from developing your skills and experience within a highly
commercial environment. But at the same time, you'll have genuine
opportunities to make a positive difference to people's lives.
Because we offer high challenge, high support
We have extremely high expectations of our graduates. That said, we have many different forms of support available to help you achieve everything you want to - and more.
- Strong network of current and former graduates: We only take on a small number of people each year, so our graduate community tends to be very close-knit.
- Buddy: Before you start, you'll be assigned a previous graduate as a 'buddy'. This is someone who can help you settle into the business and answer any questions you may have.
- Mentor: A senior manager within the business, your mentor will regularly meet up with you to discuss your career development.
- Placement manager: On each of your placements, you will be assigned a manager. As well as overseeing your day-to-day work, they will set you challenging objectives and offer you any support you need.
- Graduate programme manager: You will also enjoy the ongoing support of a graduate programme manager, who will regularly check your progress and offer coaching where you need it.
Because of our size and diversity
We have nearly 52,000 people and over 10 million customers worldwide. Our work is incredibly diverse too, spanning everything from health insurance and medical research to chronic disease management and specialist dementia care.
The size and diversity of our business makes it a great place to build your career. In the short term, it means being able to gain a huge range of experience as quickly as possible. In the long term, it means being able to take your career wherever - and however far - you want to go.
Because you can personalise your career path
Flexibility is one of the great strengths of our graduate programme. We will work with you to establish where your strengths and interests lie and you will have the freedom to find the career path that's right for you.
Because there's a world of opportunity out there
Bupa is a truly global company and our graduates have undertaken placements in locations as far-ranging as Denmark, Australia, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, China and Spain. International placements are particularly common on the General programme and will also play a part in the Marketing programme.
Because you can be proud of what you do
Our aim is to be a recognised world leader in healthcare funding, ageing, wellbeing and chronic disease. It feels good to be a part of this endeavour. It also means there are always lots of opportunities to get involved and make a difference. For example, over a hundred of our employees were recently given time off work to help build a medical centre in Ecuador.
