Diabetes is one of the world’s fastest growing health conditions.
Diabetes is linked to a significant rise in levels of obesity around the world, as being overweight puts people at high risk of developing the condition.
We used Bupa Health Pulse - our annual, international, healthcare survey - to explore these issues in the countries we operate in.
The survey revealed that, despite diabetes being such a rapidly growing global health problem, internationally there is poor understanding of the key risk factors that lead to the development of the condition. It also identified that a high proportion of people were obese or overweight, yet few were taking action to address the problem and reduce their risk of developing diabetes and other chronic health conditions.
